Â
Bombiix is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with global trimming and labelling specialist Weavabel. Together, we are unifying structured digital data with physical product execution to help fashion, retail, and lifestyle brands navigate the growing complexities of EU compliance and connected product transparency.
As the industry prepares for the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), businesses are facing intense pressure to dismantle fragmented systems, and replace them with integrated solutions that help to provide DPP compliance.Â
Traditionally, product data, supplier communication, compliance management, and physical labelling have lived in separate silos which can result in fragmented data and inaccurate product information.Â
Our partnership prevents these issues by bridging the gap between a product’s digital identity and its physical reality.
Specialist Expertise Coming Together
At Bombiix, our mission has always been to provide an advanced digital platform that allows brands to capture, structure, and manage product data seamlessly across the full product lifecycle. By offering a scalable ecosystem that combines DPP creation, PLM, PIM (Product Information Management), DAM (Digital Asset Management), and supplier connectivity, we act as the digital anchor for a brand’s supply chain.
By aligning our digital architecture with Weavabel’s global expertise in trims, packaging, RFID, and physical product identification, we are offering brands an end-to-end strategy for ESPR readiness.
“We believe Digital Product Passports are about far more than meeting regulatory requirements. They create an opportunity for brands to improve transparency, tell richer product stories and build greater trust with customers. The brands that embrace this shift early will be best positioned for the future.” – Lucy Blackley – Bombiix CPO and Founder
Connecting the “Digital Thread” to Physical Trims
At the core of this partnership is a seamless integration between the Bombiix platform and Weavabel’s Care Label ordering platform.
Through this integration module, brands can effortlessly capture and publish DPP-relevant information inside Bombiix. This includes material composition, sustainability metrics, certifications, and end-of-life recycling guidance. This data, alongside unique DPP URLs, is then securely transferred to Weavabel’s system.
The Automated Integration Workflow:
- Data Creation: Product and compliance data are published within the Bombiix platform.
- Secure Transfer: Product codes and distinct DPP URLs transfer instantly into the Weavabel Care Label system.
- Validation & Mapping: The system automatically maps data to the correct products and global suppliers.
- Factory Access: Production facilities instantly access only the exact orders and variables relevant to them.
- Carrier Generation: QR codes are automatically generated onto physical care labels and packaging as live DPP data carriers.
The result is an optimised, error-free supply chain workflow that eliminates operational complexity and securely hosts each DPP on an independent domain, guaranteeing digital accessibility across the product’s entire lifecycle (including repair, resale, and recycling).
Future-Proofing Brands for 2027 and Beyond
While the textile-specific delegated act under the ESPR framework is anticipated around mid-2027, forward-thinking global brands are already leveraging Bombiix and Weavabel independently. By formally bringing our capabilities together, we are helping our mutual clients reduce data fragmentation, maintain strict consistency, and build a resilient foundation ahead of the 2030 regulatory milestones.
“Brands can no longer treat compliance data, product information, and physical product execution as separate processes. By partnering with Bombiix, we are helping businesses connect structured product data with real-world product identification and customer-facing digital experiences in a way that is practical, scalable, and future-focused.” – David Stutterheim, Digital Product Passport, Systems and Variable Data Consultant at Weavabel
