Why the EU DPP deadline is closer than you think
Even though the EU ESPR regulations are still in the planning phases, as soon as DPPs become a mandatory requirement for your industry, you won’t be able to be a part of the EU market without them.
The only way to ensure that your products meet these EU DPP requirements is to adopt the inclusion of digital product passports for all of your products, before the enforcement of the regulation comes into force.
By staying ahead of the competition, you don’t get left behind.

Why traditional PLM systems fail at digital product passports
Most legacy PLM providers bolt on DPP as an afterthought. This can lead to workflow issues due to audit trail gaps, time spent chasing supplier data, and manual data entry leaving room for human error. A legacy approach just adds unwanted time and complexity to your product development workflow.
With our digital product passport solution, sustainability tracking is native, not an expensive add-on. There are no worries over information accuracy due to manual data input and transfer, all relevant supplier data in the PLM flows directly to a product’s DPP, and potential gaps in the audit trail are removed.Â
With the Bombiix approach, digital passports create opportunities, not headaches.
Europe is expected to account for about 40% of the global digital product passport market by 2035, driven largely by the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, with the overall DPP market projected to reach around USD 7.8 billion by 2035.
Sustainability built in, not bolted on
It’s clear there’s a strong demand for transparent and responsible product information that digital product passports can help deliver. In 2024, 57% of UK consumers reported prioritising sustainability of their fashion purchases. Native traceability across your entire product lifecycle
Save hours spent manually collating, creating and managing DPPs with software that takes care of it all. Bombiix tracks materials, processes and impact data, from concept to production without requiring separate modules or integrations.
Automated compliance reporting for EU regulations
Create clear, interactive, user-friendly and compliant DPPs in just a few clicks – everything is integrated with your PLM, DAM and PIM. Bombiix automatically generates required documentation and maintains audit trails for regulatory compliance.
Built by product people who understand your challenges
Real workflows, not theoretical processes
Relying on generic project management software for complex product development results in teams feeling hemmed into one way of working. The best DPP software provides more freedom.Â
Bombiix was created by people who have spent years inside product teams – managing BOMs, chasing supplier data and juggling timelines. That’s why our software reflects how product development works in the real world.
No huge learning curve for product teams
Friction creeps in when you ask your team to use a system that isn’t built for those using it day-to-day.Â
Bombiix mirrors real workflows – everything from early concept and material selection through to compliance and ongoing product updates. Your team enjoys less duplication of work, fewer workarounds and far more confidence in the system they’re using.

FAQs
What makes Bombiix different from traditional PLM digital product passport add ons?
Bombiix offers built-in sustainability tracking from day one, not a separate expensive module. Rather than adding a DPP after a product is designed, it is produced alongside a product throughout the product development process.
Due to its native architecture, our DPP software removes the risk of data drift due to manual input and data transfer that is required with most legacy DPP offerings.
Which EU product categories need a digital product passport, and when?
Under The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), digital product passports will be required on all products that are made or sold within the EU market.
While exact deadlines are currently in a fluid state, product categories including batteries, textiles, and electronics will be the first industries to have delegated acts introduced. Potentially as early as 2027.
This will make ESPR DPP compliance software extremely important to many product development teams.
How does Bombiix ingest data from our suppliers?
There are a number of options that our software provides when looking to receive data from your suppliers. For bulk data ingestion, you can use an API that connects our solution directly to your supplier’s, or you can populate a CSV which can then upload information in bulk. There is no need for repetitive manual data handling.
For ongoing data transfer, you can provide your suppliers with access to a supplier portal that links directly to a specific task. This allows suppliers to provide information without having to learn how to use a new software.
Bombiix is also capable of integrating with a database, to allow for data ingestion directly from the source.
Can Bombiix generate a separate digital product passport for each SKU?
Yes, Bombiix is specifically designed to generate a Digital Product Passport (DPP) at the SKU level, ensuring that every product variant carries its own unique, legally compliant identity.
As is standard for the latest compliance regulations, a separate DPP is produced for each product and all of its variants e.g. colour, material, size. This is only available as part of our paid subscriptions.
Where is our data hosted, and how is it secured?
Data within the Bombiix software is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is considered the world’s most robust and compliant cloud infrastructure. We employ a zero-trust security model that keeps your data protected at every stage of its journey, through data encryption, tight access controls, and proactive monitoring.
All data on our systems is simply stored there for you. If you want to change platforms or retrieve all of your data, we will help you to ensure that every piece of information is in your hands.Â
You retain 100% legal ownership of all product data, tech packs, and digital assets.
What happens if EU DPP requirements change after we've gone live?
Due to its fledgling nature, EU DPP requirements are prone to changing. That’s why our digital product passport software treats each DPP as a living document. Nothing is static.
If there is a regulatory change that affects any of your products, you can update this in your PLM and all DPPs will be updated to ensure compliance throughout your product range.
There is no need to rebuild the DPP for each product from scratch.
How quickly can we implement digital product passports?
Through a basic process of data audit, followed by integration, you can often get your first DPP live in a matter of weeks. There is no need for dedicated dev support or repetitive manual data management.
We support your implementation process with direct support through face to face calls and live chat. This helps to keep things running smoothly, with no delays from slow dev ticket queues or fragmented communication chains.
Does Bombiix replace our existing PLM system?
While Bombiix is capable of replacing an existing PLM system and providing full PLM, PIM, DAM, and DPP functionality on its own, it doesn’t have to.
If you are happy with your PLM system, but it lacks DPP functionality, Bombiix can work alongside your existing PLM via API connection to provide a flexible solution that fits your exact requirements.
What compliance standards and regulations does Bombiix support?
Bombiix supports a number of compliance standards and regulations by keeping a record of key data linked to materials, suppliers and finished products. The DPP solution is specifically geared to fulfil the requirements of the legislation detailed in the ESPR.
All sustainability information for every product is recorded throughout the product development process to create a robust, compliance ready digital product passport, in a machine-readable format that is compliant with EU standards.
Can we customise Bombiix for our specific product workflows?
Yes, you can customise Bombiix for your specific workflows. All data fields can be customised to fit your existing workflow, allowing your product team to use in-house terminology throughout the product development process without rigid PLM terminology causing friction.
Approval processes can be configured to fit your workflow, and DPP pages can be customised to fit your brand.
Is there a free trial or free tier available?
There is a free subscription tier for Bombiix that offers limited PLM functionality. This allows smaller teams to try our software out, without having to spend any money upfront.
The free forever PLM offers basic functionality within the software and has a limit of 15 products. It is simple to upgrade from the free tier by contacting our team directly.
All paid tiers of the Bombiix platform include full PLM functionality, as well as PIM (product information management), DAM (digital asset management), and DPP (digital product passport) solutions.

How does the API work, and are integrations included in the price?
